Domain Investment News - Locate, Evaluate & Acquire Valuable Domains
Buying domains with Channel traffic continues to be an
effective way to drive quality, targeted visitors to your
"money" web site.
If you're not familiar with the Channel traffic strategy, it
essentially is used when you have a money website, that's
a website where you sell a product, service or otherwise earn
income from the site traffic. Essentially, it's a non-parked
'real' website. What you do is buy domains related to your
money website and redirect those domains to your money
website.
I do this with my site on
foreclosures . I've bought dozens of
domains and redirected them to this particular site. And while
most of the traffic still comes from search engines and returning
visitors, the channel traffic has grown from 0 visitors a day to
hundreds each day. These numbers really add up.

============================== Domain Store Open to the Public ==============================
Last week I sent a notice about our brand new domain store (you can see a reprint of that notice below).
It seems that the store's a big hit since many quality domains have been picked up since we went live. Here's just a sample of some of the domains purchased.
LonelyEurope.com FineAreaRugs.com EasyScripting.com TechoHolic.com DailyShoot.com
....Among many others
The domains sound good, but more importantly they have indicators of traffic like DMOZ, Google PR or are indexed in the search engines.
Now, the domain store is open to the public. You can check it out here:

Several months ago, we bought our own Domain Registrar for the purpose of offering better quality information and tools to DomainersEdge members.
The new direct connection to the registry has enabled us to improve our dataset and actually compete with the dropcatchers in snapping up expiring domains.
For the past 3 months we've been looking for the best way to make this new resource available to our membership. I'm happy to say that as of July 10th, the DomainersEdge Domain Store is officially open.
Listen to this audio description I threw together which describes how the store works.

============================== DomainersEdge's B-Day! & a shameless bribe ============================== On August 1, 2007 DomainersEdge will officially be 1 year old. To commerate this event, I decided I'd like to get some testimonials from members on to hear what they like best about the system.
Knowing how secretive we tend to be, I figured I'd have to offer bribes to get people to say anything publicly. So, shamelessly, I will.
Tell me your story and win some easy cash.
The contest is simple, set aside 2 minutes to tell us about your story, and you can win one of 8 cash prizes.
Go to: http://domainersedge.com/contest.aspx to tell your story and find out more.

============================== Parking Gadget Update ==============================

We've received a lot of great feedback on the Domain Parking Stat Gadget we released. Andrew Allemann over and domainnamewire.com posted a review (thanks Andrew!) and I got a lot of personal emails from people saying "thanks".
We've been contacted by several parking companies asking to be added to the gadget.
First up, Namedrive. Expect support for Namedrive within the next several days.
If you park domains and aren't using the totally private and incredibly convenient gadget yet, you can check it out and download it here:

Today, we released several new features that allow members to view
domains based upon the number of pages indexed in the various search
engines as well as by the actual age of the domain. These two new
features give DE members a HUGE advantage when it comes to finding
valuable domains. When
you log in to the DE member area you'll see the new columns. As
always, you can sort by column or filter by virtually any domain
attribute. I put together a quick Overview Video of the new features here. New Features VideoMy goal is to give domain investors and entrepreneurs an unfair
advantage when it comes to locating and securing valuable domains. To
meet this goal we must constantly improve. Member feedback, as usual,
has been critical to the latest round of significant upgrades. As
always keep the suggestions coming. You can add them to the comments
of this post or send an email to our support department.
With all the things going on in our lives/businesses it's
challenging to always stay on top of all the opportunities available to
us. That's why were releasing a new feature in DomainersEdge which
will allow you to stay on top of the domains of particular interest to
you. With this new feature you don't need to be digging through the
domain database everyday, instead you just tell us what you're looking
for and our engine does the heavy lifting on your behalf. When we find
what you're looking for we tell you about it.
"My Reports" emails will be live for DomainersEdge members within
the next 48 hours. What this means to you is that you can recieve
daily emails with updates on domains which are available right now, are
in auction, or are dropping soon which are of particular interest to
you.
Here's how it works..
Within the DE interface under "Favorite Searches" create specific
search criteria for domains you're looking for. You can create a
favorite search on virtually any criteria to really drill down to your
specific interests. The possibilities are limitless, but here are a
few examples of Favorite searches you might set up. "Show me domains
which:
- Have PR greater than 4
- Contain a keyword (like foreclosure, marketing, wedding or whatever) and have backlinks listed in Google and MSN.
- Have Ovt/TLD, Backlinks from Google and are listed in the DMOZ directory.
- Or any other combination of Indicators of traffic and domain characteristics."
Then, each day we compile your favorite searches into email format and send it to you.
The superior tools within DomainersEdge is the result of member
feedback. Listen to the audio below to hear a quick audio recording on
how your feedback makes all the difference and check out some of the
new features coming down the pipe:

Here's some of the new Features:
1. Allow sorting by multiple columns. Just like in excel
you can sort by column A then Column B, Then column D. It would be
helpful for members to be able to do this same thing when looking at
all domain lists.
2. Add reports that demonstrate
what domains actually sell for so that people who are bidding in
auctions have better information and we can better evaluate the resale
value of domains.
We will monitor the domain sales at the
various domain marketplaces and database all of this data along with
the indicators of traffic for those domains at the time of the sale.
The reason is, we want to know... when they sold, what were the
indicators. This will help us predict what a domain in auction right
now might be sold for.
Damn! Last week I had another bad experience with Godaddy which I'd like to share with our members....
I think Godaddy has a lot of great things going for it, but we have to remember they're services are often not Domain Investor/Entrepreneur friendly.
After winning premium domain name in auction for more than $4500, Godaddy says the previous registrant finally emerged from the cave they were living in for the last 100 days and wanted this generic domain back. What are the odds?

We just released a domain typo tool that allows you to scan for typos then checks them for availability. http://www.domainersedge.com/scantypos.aspxThis new tool was based upon a suggestion from a Premium member. I love feedback and suggestions so please check out the typo tool and let me know what you think. AND, if you have any other ideas for features, please let me know. Matt Smith

The Domain Industry is becoming quite popluar with the press. This is the second article in the USA Today this month. +++++++++++ Domain names become premium Web real estate
By Jon Swartz, USA TODAY
SAN FRANCISCO — Everyone should have Amy Schrier's problem.
For six months, she resisted selling the domain
name Blue.com for $200,000. Using a formula she devised to fetch the
highest market value for domain names, Schrier eventually convinced a
private party that Blue.com was worth $500,000. Since the name was sold
in March, its site now includes links to sexual material and airfare
ads.
"The market will really explode when people
realize they are sitting on premium real estate," says Schrier, 37, an
entrepreneur in New York who bought Blue.com for $65,000 in 2002. Check out the full article
The Wall Street Journal has published a number of articles on the

this is great for the industry. Here's an interesting article which ran today in the WSJ. There's some big money coming into this space... Check it out
How to Locate and Secure "Valuable" Domains:
It's not easy being a successful domain investor. In my humble opinion, the vast,
vast majority of domains are totally worthless, but people are buying this crap
left and right! It's nuts! Listen, you've got to have the right strategies, tools
and information to get your hands on the domains that produce revenue even while
you sleep.
The mission at Domainer's Edge is to provide Domainers with the tools
and information needed to easily find and secure valuable domains.
If you have a
domain that sounds cool, "Fantastic...so what?" If you have a domain that's perfect
for development, "good for you... who cares?" Some people might, but not me! As
an investor, I want domains that currently produce traffic. I don't want to develop
websites. I don't want to spend my life "tweaking" crap for higher SEO rankings.
Call me lazy, I don't care.
I know from experience that there's good money to be
made by picking up domains which produce type in traffic or have residual traffic
from a previous "not so lazy guy" who put a lot of time and energy into developing
a domain then closed up shop. Thanks, buddy, I'm happy to pick up your wasted efforts
and turn them into profits!
This site is devoted to helping other "lazy" people
like me find the rare diamonds in the rough and make s#*t loads of money. If that
sound good to you, check out our free reports tools. Use them right and you'll make
a few bucks. In the coming months, I'll make some premium tools available that are
going to scare the crap out of a lot of the establishment. Ha, Ha!
If you like the
kind of stuff I'm talking about here, sign up for the "Opinion Letter" (most people
call it a newsletter, but not me since you're just going to hear my one sided opinion.
Whether you agree or not, I don't care!)
